Wouter Bollen (1984 – 2026) — "DieAfterGast"

Raver at heart, connector of a scene

On March 5, 2026, the Maastricht rave scene lost one of its most cherished souls. Wouter Bollen, 41 years old, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a silence on the dancefloor that will be hard to fill.

Those who knew Wouter, knew DieAfterGast. A name worn with a grin and total conviction, because Wouter truly was the one who stayed, who kept the energy alive long after others had gone home. Not out of habit, but out of a genuine, unshakeable love for the music. For the moment. For the people around him.

As a DJ, he understood what a set was supposed to do: not impress, but connect. He didn't play for a crowd, he played with them. His sets reflected who he was as a person: honest, warm, unpretentious, yet carrying a depth that only hit you when the bass settled into your chest.

But Wouter's impact stretched far beyond the decks. He was one of those rare people who moved freely between crews, collectives, and organisations within the scene, not as a networker, but as a genuine bridge builder. Where others saw rivalry or distance, Wouter saw common ground. He brought people to the table, connected promoters, artists, and volunteers, and quietly helped shape a scene that was bigger and more unified because he was part of it.

He also believed deeply in nurturing new talent. Wouter was the kind of person who fought for the smaller names, the up-and-coming DJs who just needed one real shot. He understood that a line-up isn't only about pulling crowds; it's about building a future for the scene. More than once, he used his voice and his connections to get those names on a poster, and more than once, those names went on to become faces the scene came to love. That was no coincidence. That was Wouter.

Maastricht's rave community was stronger, more connected, and more alive because he was part of it. And on a personal level, he was the one who welcomed new faces, embraced the veterans, and somehow always ended up laughing with strangers who didn't stay strangers for long.

Wouter leaves behind a community that is mourning, but also one that carries everything he stood for: togetherness, passion, and the belief that music is most powerful when it brings people together.

Rest easy, Wouter. The music plays on, for you.

Rave In Peace, DieAfterGast. 🖤
